Senior Lecturer / Group Leader
The O’Grady group aims to improve the diagnosis of infection and detection of foodborne pathogens by providing pathogen and AMR information significantly faster than current culture-based methods.
We aim to translate our research into in-vitro diagnostic and food safety tests, implemented in health systems and the food industry, globally. To achieve this, we will develop novel technologies and collaborate closely with the genomics, diagnostics, healthcare and food industries.
The group uses a number of techniques, including clinical and food metagenomics, novel host and food matrix DNA depletion technologies, nanopore and Illumina sequencing, PCR, diagnostic clinical trials and bioinformatics.
